
S.T. Lee Lecture in Arctic Studies, IARC/UAF
The International Arctic Research Center has received an endowment through Singapore philanthropist, Dr. S.T. Lee to establish a "Lecture in Arctic Studies" series. This program will bring prominent scholars in arctic research to IARC. Dr. Lee has established important lecture series at academic institutions throughout the world, including Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard, spanning topics in humanities, military history, public policy and government. S.T. Lee Young Researcher Travel AwardAn exchange program for young scholars between The Antarctic Research Center at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and IARC/UAF has been established. This program fosters collaboration between Antarctic and Arctic research at the two institutes. The first recipient of the S.T. Lee Young Researcher Travel Award exchange program was Daniel Pringle from Victoria University. His lecture on November 24, 2004 was titled "Measuring the Thermal Conductivity of Sea Ice." |
