Student Recognized for Excellence

Michel Mesquita was recognized recently with two items of distinction: a competitive grant award from the Center from Global Change and Arctic System Research (CGC/CIFAR) and a special recognition for excellence by the UAF College of Natural Science and Mathmatics(CNSM). Mesquita is a PhD student at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences and is working with David Atkinson of IARC.

The CGC/CIFAR 2008 Global Change Student Research Grant Competition was awarded on May 20, 2008 and will provide funding in the amount of $6,300 for Mesquita's research project entitled "North Pacific storm track climatology: Is the current operational algorithm misrepresenting Alaska storms?"

The UAF College of Natural Science and Mathmatics recognized Mesquita in their Spring 2008 Newsletter, Volume 7, Issue 2. This newsletter is available at the CNSM office, 358 Reichaardt Building on the UAF campus.
